The Beginning of a Betrayal
My father had left before I was even born, and my mom had spent years searching for the perfect man. Throughout her journey, she found several good matches—rich, caring, and handsome men who could have been perfect partners. But there was always one problem. They all hated having me around.
I recall one incident where a man named James looked at me with disgust and said, “Eww, Rei. I didn’t sign up to raise a kid!” After that, he vanished from our lives. I could never forget how devastated Mom would be after each breakup. And often, I felt like I was the reason for her unhappiness. So, after I graduated from high school, I decided to leave for university in another city, hoping it would give her the space to find happiness.
A New Hope
Months passed, and then one day, Mom called me with exciting news. “I’ve finally found the one, Julia. I’m getting married! His name is Eddie, and he promises to love you like his own daughter.”
I could hear the joy in her voice, and I felt genuinely happy for her. “I’m so glad, Mom! I hope you both find happiness together forever.”
Mom continued, “I want you to meet him. We’ve planned a special dinner for the three of us. You’ll be with us next week. I spoke with your principal, and he gave you permission.”
“Great, Mom! I can’t wait to meet him!” I said, feeling a little nervous but excited for her new life. After hanging up the phone, I felt a sense of peace. Finally, Mom was happy, and I wasn’t standing in the way anymore.
The First Meeting with Eddie
The following week, I packed my bags and headed back home. When I arrived, Mom and Eddie greeted me warmly.“Welcome home, sweetheart,” Eddie said, extending his hand.I smiled and shook it. “It’s nice to meet you, Eddie. Thanks for being there for Mom.”
“Thanks for coming, sweetie,” Mom said, embracing me. “Now, go freshen up and join us for dinner.”When I came downstairs, I noticed how happy they both looked. The atmosphere felt warm, like everything was falling into place. Eddie invited me to sit down at the table, pulling out a chair for me like a true gentleman.
“Make yourself comfortable, Julia. If you don’t like anything, just let me know,” he said with a smile.I thought to myself, He seems nice. Mom was right about him. However, over time, my perception of Eddie began to shift in ways I hadn’t expected.
The Uncomfortable Attention
It all started on social media. Eddie began liking all my posts, leaving comments like, “Wow, Julia, you look gorgeous!” and adding strange emojis that made my skin crawl. I ignored it at first, thinking it was harmless. But soon, things escalated.
Sh0cked, I turned to face him. “That’s inappropriate, Eddie,” I said, my voice firm. “I’m going to expose you for what you really are.”
Eddie just smirked. “We’ll see about that. You’ve got some free time tonight, right? Let’s meet in your room,” he said, stepping too close to me and grabbing my waist.
I pushed him away, furious. “You’re sick! I’ll make sure everyone knows the truth.”But just as things were about to take a darker turn, Mom entered the kitchen. I felt a sense of relief, thinking she would finally realize Eddie’s true nature.
However, what happened next left me in utter shock.
The Sh0cking Betrayal
Instead of defending me, Mom turned to me with anger in her eyes. “Pack your bags, Julia. Now!” she ordered.“Mom, what are you talking about?” I protested, confused and hurt.“I don’t want you here. You’re trying to seduce your stepfather, aren’t you? Look at those shorts! What else could you expect from a man?” she yelled.
Tears welled up in my eyes. “That’s not what happened! He was the one who tried to—”
“I don’t want to hear any more excuses!” she interrupted. “You’ve embarrassed me enough. I’m not paying your university fees anymore. If you end up on the streets, it’s your own fault for trying to deceive someone!”
With that, she threw me out without a second thought. No money, no place to go. Alone and rejected, I was forced to find my own way.
Struggling and Succeeding
For the next several years, I worked multiple jobs just to get by. Despite everything, I never gave up. I worked at a cosmetics store, learning everything I could about the products and gaining experience in the industry.
Seven years later, all my hard work paid off. I had saved enough money to start my own business, and soon I owned a successful cosmetics company.
But even with my newfound success, there was a part of me that missed my mom. I often thought about how things could have been different, but I was determined to move on.
The Unexpected Visit
One day, I was in my office when I got a surprise visit. It was Mom.“Mom! What are you doing here?” I asked, astonished. “I’m so happy to see you.”She gave me a cold smile. “I’m happy to see you too, Julia, but I’m here about my debt,” she said bluntly.“Debt?” I repeated, confused.
Mom looked at me with a strange expression. “I know you’ve been successful, but you wouldn’t be where you are if I hadn’t k!cked you out. Now, I need you to pay me back.”
I stared at her in disbelief. “What are you talking about?”Mom raised an eyebrow. “I need money to help Eddie. His business failed, and his partners sued him. He’s in jail now, and I need your help to get him out.”
Anger surged through me. “You want me to pay for your mistakes? After everything you put me through?” I called security immediately. “Please escort this woman out of my office and never let her return.”
It hurt to do that to her, but she had completely changed after meeting Eddie. I no longer recognized her as the loving mother I once knew. She had become someone entirely different, someone driven by selfish desires.
Reflection on Family and Betrayal
As I stood in my office, watching security take my mother away, I couldn’t help but wonder: Did she ever truly love me, or was I just something to support her until she found someone else to depend on?
The story teaches us a hard truth: family members can be t0xic too. Betrayal doesn’t always come from strangers—it can come from the ones we trust the most. Trust is essential in every relationship, and no one should have to endure the pain of being falsely accu$ed by the people they love.
If you found this story meaningful, share it with your friends. It might help someone see their own worth and inspire them to keep moving forward.
