Right away, this tip may seem unusual to you, but you really have to try it to understand its full benefit. Take a glass and fill it with water. Add a few sprigs of fresh coriander. Place the glass on the dining room table at meal time to protect yourself from these harmful insects. The advantage is that you can have lunch or dinner with complete peace of mind, since flies cannot tolerate the smell of coriander at all. They will flee this aromatic herb and will not disturb you during your meal. So, not only will you be peaceful for a moment, but you will also benefit from the delicate scent of coriander which will perfume the room.

Other remedies to prevent flies from invading your home

· Aromatic plants to repel flies
In addition to coriander, other aromatic herbs will have the same repellent effect on flies, but also mosquitoes. Scatter a few leaves of lavender, mint, rosemary, basil or eucalyptus in different areas of the house. You can also use the same method we mentioned above or use essential oils in a spray bottle. Kill two birds with one stone, you will enjoy a pleasant smell at home and at the same time, you will fight against the presence of flies. One thing is certain, if you choose strategic locations, these insects will not be present!

· Vinegar trap to catch flies
Don’t you attract flies with vinegar? It all depends on who we’re talking about. White vinegar, in fact, clearly repels flies with its strong acidic odor. On the other hand, cider vinegar, which is milder, tends to attract them. The idea would therefore be to concoct a fly trap: the trick consists of breaking a bottle of water from the top and pouring four centimeters of cider vinegar over it. Then you need to put the neck of the bottle back on, but upside down this time, in the form of a funnel and open the container, so that the flies penetrate to the vinegar. After a while, this liquid will stun them and they will be trapped inside. It will therefore be very difficult for them to get out again.

NB: it is still possible to combine white vinegar with a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil. Mix everything well and pour the solution into a sprayer. Spray outside on doors and windows. This remedy will act as a clever barrier!

· Garlic or lemon with cloves

You may not know it, but lemon is a citrus fruit that largely repels flies. Therefore, it is an excellent remedy to use as often as possible: you just need to cut one in half and insert a few cloves in the middle. Then put these lemon slices on the windows or directly on the garden table where you usually eat. This is the ideal method to keep flies away from the surrounding area. To complete this remedy, you can also place a little chopped garlic on the side of the front door or sliding windows. This smell gives them panic attacks, be sure they won’t come any closer.
· Keep the house clean
In the same vein as cockroaches, flies are particularly attracted to food scraps and food waste. Obviously, the simplest and most effective solution to avoid the invasion of flies is to have a hygienically impeccable interior. In this sense, it is essential to clean risk areas, empty and disinfect trash cans, avoid waste (even crumbs lying everywhere!), and check that water does not stagnate in the toilets. So remember to always cover the trash can when it is filled with garbage.

· Homemade fly repellent
And why not create your own homemade fly repellent, which is natural, economical and ecological?

You will need:

– ½ glass of white vinegar

– ½ glass of water

– A vaporizer

Mix everything well and pour into the spray bottle. You should only spray the fly when it flies near you. The contact of vinegar on her paws annoys her and she will quickly move away from this disturbing environment for her.

· Eucalyptus
Finally, as mentioned above, eucalyptus is a powerful repellent that will chase away all the flies lurking around you. Immerse a few leaves in a container of water and bring to a boil. You will soon begin to smell a very pleasant aroma in the house, but you will also notice that flies and mosquitoes gradually move away from your perimeter. Yes, this smell displeases them terribly. Bet won!
