Winkler’s parents called him “dumb” and even a “Dummo Hund,” which means “dumb dog,” because they didn’t know he had dyslexia. This harsh feedback changed Winkler’s sense of self and how she was raised in a big way. He never gave up on his dreams, even though things were hard.
