Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old summer intern on Capitol Hill, has passed away following a tragic incident in Washington, D.C., leaving behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and civic ambition. Known for his bright spirit and passion for public service, Eric was working in the office of Congressman Ron Estes of Kansas when his life was cut short during his time in the capital.
The incident occurred late in the evening near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Authorities confirmed that Eric was unintentionally caught in a dangerous situation and later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. Two other individuals were also injured and are currently recovering. As of now, law enforcement officials are actively investigating, and a reward has been offered for information that may lead to an arrest in the case.
Originally from Granby, Massachusetts, Eric was preparing to begin his senior year at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was majoring in finance and minoring in political science—subjects that reflected his interest in shaping policy and helping others. His decision to intern in Washington was part of a larger goal to pursue a career in public leadership.
